Moorecroft Regional Park, Nanoose Bay

Spending a peaceful few hours hiking Moorecroft Regional Park between Beachcomber Regional Park and Schooner Cove in Nanoose Bay, BC, is a great way to soothe the soul.

A dog-friendly park with spectacular ocean vistas is the perfect place to explore with your fur-buddy. My Boston Terrier had her nose to the ground and only looked up to take in the ocean views once we had scaled the rocky ledges.

And under a ten minute drive through bucolic countryside, down Northwest Bay Road from Parksville and another amazing place, Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park.

This park offers sweeping ocean views, multiple small islands floating in the distance, hiking trails through a lush tropical-like forest and wildflowers, picnic tables, a rocky beach, and peace and quiet. There is also a pond nestled beside one of the trails, buzzing with butterflies and dragonflies.

Pure bliss.

Apparently you can swim and paddle here as well, perhaps when the ocean water warms up.
